Description
Cape Byron Lighthouse – Overlooking the famous town of Byron Bay, stands the Cape Byron Lighthouse. It is on the furthermost eastern point of the mainland of Australia and is an active lighthouse protecting passing boats and ships along the coast and part of the Cape Byron Marine Park. The light that is emitted from the lighthouse is visible from Byron Bay. Previously the lighthouse was manually operated, but now it is on an automated system with bright LEDs and visitors can enjoy tours during the day up the tower.
This photograph was taken at sunrise on an early January summer morning day, with gorgeous colours shining through the soft clouds, balancing the sharp edges and fall of the steep cliffs. It was difficult to move around with hundreds of visitors also wanting to take a photo on their phones or a selfie, many I’m sure who had not gone to bed from the previous night of fun and festivities!
