Description
Dove Lake Sunrise – Cradle Mountain National Park – After several failed attempts at the elusive sunrise over Cradle Mountain, this morning was no different, except it wasn’t raining and the weather was perfect for this particular sunrise, looking towards Cradle Mountain across the perfectly peaceful Dove Lake. With plenty of clouds when we arrived and set up at the lake, I was worried that we wouldn’t see any colour nor Cradle Mountain itself. While Cradle Mountain is covered with clouds I still love this image. I love the colour coming through from the rising sun behind and using a longer shutter exposure of 30 seconds, I was able to draw out the drama in the clouds and allow the reflections to shine. The Boat House is the main feature of this image, with countless photographs taken of it, it is a timeless part of the natural bushland and scenery.
The boulders in the foreground of the image also provide for extra interest against the reflecting waters of the Dove Lake, which on this occasion was almost perfectly still with only a very subtle breeze passing over the lake. This photograph was taken at sunrise mid-autumn.
This print would particularly look amazing in the Acrylic Facemount option.
Location of this photograph, Dove Lake, Cradle Mountain National Park, Tasmania, Australia.
