Description
This breathtaking sunset was taken at Childers Cove, in the Bay of Islands Coastal Park, not far beyond the famous 12 Apostles along the Great Ocean Road. About an hour before the sun was due to set the sky was completely overcast and dull and with not much promise in sight of good sunset, I was almost ready to pack up. Childers Cove was certainly a hike further than most people would go for a landscape photograph and I was beginning to see why! However, just at the right moment the clouds cleared on the horizon and I was blown away by the sunset that unfolded for just a few moments!
At first glance you could be forgiven for assuming the colours in this sunset have been significantly altered for “artistic effect”. In actual fact, this photograph genuinely captures the incredible depth of colour that a sunset can display. I especially loved how the pink and purple hues of this evening were reflected and highlighted by the surrounding rocky landscape and water below.
This warm sunset was a joy to witness in person and I do hope it brings you joy also.
